St. Barthelemy

This was our first stay on the French island of St. Barthelemy. We rented Villa Seven Island in Flamands. The villa is modern, spacious, and has a fabulous outside space with a great view. The infinity edge pool is HUGE!

The villa has 2 bedrooms and 2 large bathrooms (showers only, no tubs). The bedrooms/bathrooms, of equal size, are located on the opposite sides of the living room so 2 couples who are friends could rent the villa and have privacy. Air conditioning is only in the bedrooms. There's a safe and a hairdryer in each bathroom. There's a television in the living room. Our little guy watched some kids programming in French. I think the only 2 channels in English were CNN International and ESPN, everything else seemed to be in French (we didn't really watch much TV). There's also free WiFi. A very nice young lady came to clean the house daily.
There's a space upstairs with some type of sitting cushions and a table. Patrick would sometimes hang out up there to play his games.
The kitchen has all the basics: plates, glasses, pans, cutlery, etc... We ate out a lot so I can't really say more about it.

Some minor (very minor) negatives: The furniture was a bit too modern for our taste. There were quite a few mosquitoes. We used a whole can of Raid that week. Driving out of the villa took a bit of maneuvering. The road right outside the automated gate is narrow with a wall right on the other side. We eventually got the hang of it.

Overall, we really liked the villa (that amazing view!). We could stay there again, although I'd probably want to try a different villa on the next trip. We rented the villa through St. Barth Properties and the Suzuki Jimny through Turbe Car Rental. We don't have one complaint about our rental experience, it all went really well.

RESTAURANTS: We thought we'd have a lot of great meals in St. Barth but unfortunately we didn't. The majority of the places were fine, but nothing spectacular. St. Barth is definitely one of the priciest, if not the priciest, Caribbean island when it comes to food. Our favorite meal was at L'Isola. The pasta and the dessert were truly delicious. Brian had the best seafood at Le Santa Fe, while my meal there was just okay. I have to say this... the French make the best french fries and creme brulee!
